Mohammad Malas

A novelist and a filmmaker. Born in Damascus in 1945.
Graduate from Cinema Institute of Moscow in 1974.
During his study he directed (The Dream of A Small City) 1972, a short film that forms the nucleus of his later films that focused on dream, memory and the city.
He wrote a novel (Advertisements about A City that Lived before the War) and the diary of the film (The Dream).
His film (The City’s Dreams) won top awards in international and Arab festivals, e.g. Carthage, Bastia, Arab Critics in Cannes Film Festival.
His second film (The Night) won international and Arab awards.
